What Is A Core Charge?

core charge

Re-manufacturers issue a core charge to offset their costs. It is hoped that the customer will return their old engine (also known as the “core”) after the newly purchased one is installed. Once the old engine is returned, then the core charge is reimbursed. Essentially, a core charge is a deposit that will be refunded.

When you purchase an engine from Powertrain Products, you will see that there is a core charge on your invoice. Once you (or your mechanic) switch out the engine, simply email or call us here to have the arrangements made to pick up the core. You can also start the return process by visiting this page.

We will cover the return shipping cost, paperwork, and arranging drop-off and pickup. You simply need to have someone at the location who is authorized to receive the delivery. That’s it!
