Engine fitment can be verified with the notes and ‘Vehicle Fitment’ tab above, or with the casting numbers under ‘Additional Information’ (if applicable), or by calling toll-free 888-842-0023.
Every engine we sell is fully remanufactured to meet or exceed OEM specifications:
- Deep Clean – To start the remanufacturing process, every engine is fully disassembled and hot tanked (cast iron) or thermally cleaned (aluminum)
- Inspection – Magnaflux testing uses magnetic particles to inspect metal, checking for microscopic cracks and fissures that will cause long-term failure. All parts are visually inspected as well.
- Machining and New Parts – Deck surfaces are CNC machined and new parts are added. New parts inlcude bearings, pistons, rings, lifters, oil pump, gaskets, Viton™ valve seals, freeze plugs, galley plugs and either a new timing chain (with new tensioners) or a new timing belt (with new tensioner). If an engine has a timing-driven water pump, a new pump is installed.
- SIM Testing – Each engine is SIM tested after reassembly, with the cooling and oil systems being fully pressurized and the crank being spun at high RPM to verify compression and build quality.
Because of our rigorous remanufacturing process, we can offer the industry’s best warranties. Each engine comes with up to 7 years and 1 million miles of warranty, which can be upgraded to include Pure Care™ no-fault protection. No other engine manufacturer comes close.

Resolved Cylinder Head Cracks and Coolant Leaks
Factory gaskets are upgraded to multi-layer steel (MLS) LS head gaskets that withstand higher cylinder temps and pressures. Additionally, every cylinder head we install is 100% pressure-tested to detect the micro-crack and sealing issues known to plague the LM7 & L59 cylinder heads.
Eliminating Piston Slap and Oil Consumption
Short-skirted pistons and loose piston-to-bore clearances led to the cold-start piston slap common to the LM7 & L59. We solve this by:
- Boring the cylinders and installing upgraded hyper-eutectic pistons that expand less under heat, allowing much tighter piston-to-bore clearances.
- Utilizing strict in-process piston circlip validation procedures, combined with updated piston size, to eliminate piston slap and oil consumption issues.
Cam Alignment and Oil Pressure Issues Fixed
We perform a complete camshaft bearing line bore for flawless cam journal alignment and tighter journal-to-bearing clearances. All 2007 and newer applications receive an updated and redesigned oil pump which supplies improved flow with a more steady pressure curve.
Precision-Sealed Lower Assembly
- Crankcase assembly is 100% leak-tested to ensure the rear main seal and oil pan are perfectly tight.
- Engines arrive with the oil pan, timing cover, and rear cover expertly pre-installed.This is valuable given the pan, timing cover and rear cover require special alignment tooling.
Long-Life Valvetrain Upgrades
To combat excessive friction and oil burning issues, we install premium chromed valves that prevent valve guide and guide stem wear. Our precision machined valve seats ensure a perfectly matched seal, minimal runout, and longer lifespan.
Precision-Built and SIM Tested
- Powertrain Products remanufactured 5.3L LM7 & L59 engines are assembled using a state-of-the-art Manufacturing Execution System (MES) that continuously monitors and records all torque specifications and in-process inspections.
- Each engine is 100% SIM tested to verify correct compression, oil pressure, oil flow, and torque-to-turn.

HERE'S WHY OUR ENGINES LEAD THE INDUSTRY

Machining and New Parts
Precision CNC machining of deck mating surfaces ensure a perfect fit for long-lasting engine performance. Major parts replaced new including but not limited to: bearings, pistons, rings, lifters, oil pump gaskets, freeze plugs, galley plugs, and either new timing chain or belt (with new tensioners).

Magnetic Particle Inspection
Magnaflux testing identifies microscopic cracks or fissures in ferrous components, while a visual inspection of non-ferrous components finds obvious failures.

Disassembly and Hot Tank/Thermal Cleaning
Disassembled components are hot tanked (if iron) or thermally cleaned (if aluminium)until all deposits are removed. All intake and exhaust surfaces are cleaned an buffed.

SIM Testing
The reassembled engine is tested for compression. For variable valve timing engines the phasers are run through a full test cycle to measure proper engagement and timing adjustment. Crank assembly is spun at 750 REM to verify quality.

Leak Testing
Cooling and oil systems are fully pressurized to check for leaks.

Engine FAQs:
It can be a bit confusing, but understanding these terms is key to making the right investment for your vehicle:
- Crate Engines: A brand-new engine, mostly for performance applications. Typically an expensive option that costs more than rebuilt or remanufactured engines.
- Used Engines: These are typically sourced from salvage yards. They're budget-friendly, but come with unknown mileage and maintenance history. They often carry very short warranties and are a buyer-beware option.
- Rebuilt Engines: A rebuild involves a technician taking a failed engine apart and replacing only the broken or worn-out components. The quality depends entirely on the individual builder’s skill, and many old parts are often reused to save costs.
- Remanufactured Engines: Remans are the gold standard. When we remanufacture an engine, we strip the engine down to the bare block and put it through a standardized assembly line process including deep cleaning (cast iron is hot tanked, aluminum is laser or thermally cleaned), precision machining, and the installation of new, high-quality components. Unlike a rebuild, remanufacturing an engine doesn't just fix what was broken - the entire unit is returned to zero-mile condition and updated, corrected, or improved components that fix original factory design flaws (like Hemi Tick or Chevy Piston Slap) are installed.
Every engine we sell undergoes a rigorous remanufacturing cycle. This includes CNC machining of blocks and heads to ensure perfect tolerances. Magnaflux testing, which uses magnetic particles to inspect metal, is conducted to check for microscopic cracks and fissures.
Tolerances and function are then SIMTested (Simulation Tested). Unlike a simple visual check, the SIM tester spins the engine at a specific RPM to check for proper oil pressure, compression, and internal clearance issues allowing the lifters to pump up. We pressurize the cooling system at the same time. This ensures your engine is ready to run the moment it’s installed.
To ensure an accurate match, have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) ready when ordering. For certain models, we may also ask for specific engine codes found on the valve cover or block to account for mid-year production changes. Additionally, our experts can help you get the right fit - just give us a call if you have questions.
Long Block and Short Block are terms that describe the level - or completeness - of an engine build. Most of our engines are sold as Long Blocks and include the engine block, cylinder heads, crankshaft, pistons, and camshafts all timed and assembled. You will typically need to transfer your bolt-on accessories from your old engine, such as the intake manifold, oil pan (in some cases), alternator, water pump, fuel system, wiring, sensors, exhaust manifolds, etc. Exact configurations can vary depending on your needs.
Yes! Proper break-in is critical for the long-term life of your engine, specifically for seating the piston rings. For the first 500 miles, we recommend:
- Varying your speeds and avoiding short distances and frequent start-ups.
- Avoiding heavy towing or full-throttle acceleration.
- Changing your oil and filter after the first 500 miles to remove any initial seating debris.
- Using a high-quality conventional oil ONLY for the initial break-in period.
Check out this article for a deep dive on engine break-in.
We offer the best protection in the business with a 3-year standard warranty on all of our engines that can be upgraded to 5 or 7 years or 1 million miles, whichever comes first. For the ultimate protection, you can add our no-fault Pure Care™ Warranty to your purchase.
Note: Certain swaps or commercial applications may have different coverage limits. You can view our full warranty details here.
It's important to clean or replace components that could hold debris from your old engine’s failure. This includes the oil cooler, radiator, and intake manifold (if it was contaminated by metal shavings). If not, FOD (foreign object debris) damage can occur, which can ruin a new engine in minutes.
A core charge is a deposit that ensures we get your old engine back so we can remanufacture it for the next customer. We offer a 15-day core waiver - meaning we won't charge you for the core upfront if you get it to us within 15 days of us delivering your new engine. If you need more time no problem, just understand on the 16th day the core deposit will be charged. It is fully refundable for up to 6 months after the purchase date when returned.
We make the core return process easy: we provide the paperwork, arrange the freight truck, and pay for the return shipping. You just need to have the core drained of fluids and secured to the crate.
If the engine you order is in stock, it typically ships the next business day. Most customers in the continental U.S. receive their engine within 3 to 5 business days. Because these are heavy freight items, be sure you select a destination (or shop) that can accommodate freight vehicles and lifts.
This is handled on a case by case basis, call us at 888-842-0023 to discuss.
If we are able to ship to you, we will arrange to ship the items to a freight forwarder, and you will be responsible for all duties, taxes, and fees as required by your country of residence.
Due to the heavy nature of engines, express shipping is NOT available. We do use the most innovative and efficient carriers in the industry that typically deliver ahead of industry standards.
We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, and certified funds. We also offer financing options - details here:
